ESSA Pharma Inc. (ESSA) is a private company focused on the development of small molecule drugs for the treatment of prostate cancer. We are located in Vancouver, British Columbia on the beautiful west coast of Canada.

Technology Ownership

The technology on which the Company has been formed (the “NTD Technology”), while discovered by Drs. Sadar and Andersen, was the joint property of the British Columbia Cancer Agency and the University of British Columbia. The Company has licensed the NTD Technology from BCCA and UBC, filed additional IP and raised seed funding.

Current Operating Mode

ESSA at this time operates as a virtual company with preclinical studies done in the laboratories of the company’s scientific founders (as per agreements with UBC and BCCA) and by contract research organizations (CRO’s). Future compound discovery and mechanism of action experiments will continue to be conducted in the academic laboratories of Drs. Marianne Sadar and Raymond Andersen at minimal cost to ESSA.

The Company has created a medical advisory board consisting of Drs. Stephen Plymate and Bruce Montgomery of the University of Washington and to guide the Company’s research efforts and clinical trial design.   Dr. Plymate is a recognized expert on the adaptive biological mechanisms that lead to the emergence of castrate-resistant prostate cancer.  He has entered into a collaboration with Dr. Sadar under which he is investigating the efficacy of EPI-001 relative to other currently-proven therapeutic agents in suppressing tumor growth in his models of castrate-resistant prostate cancer.  Dr. Bruce Montgomery is a oncology clinician specializing in prostate cancer treatment.  He is a thought leader in prostate cancer clinical trial design and execution, and has lead or participated in most prostate cancer clinical trials conducted in the last decade.

ESSA Pharma Inc. is incorporated in the Province of British Columbia. Gary Sollis of Fraser Milner Casgrain is the company’s General Counsel. Intellectual property attorneys include: Smart and Biggar of Vancouver British Columbia (Andris Macins) and Seed Intellectual Property Law Group PLLC (Karl Hermanns) of Seattle, Washington.

Business Strategy

ESSA intends to remain a virtual company with the objective of proving the value of its technology through a Phase 1/2 clinical trial in recurrent prostate cancer patients.   After such proof-of-concept data becomes available, the company will seek liquidity for its investors via a partnership or acquisition.  All partnership revenues will be distributed to investors.
